With the astronomical price of gas setting new record highs every day, people are desperate to find alternatives to driving to work each and every day. More and more people are turning to public transit, but if you live in a typical American city, you likely have extremely poor transit, and it simply isn’t an option. One gas saving alternative many people are turning to is car pooling. Even if you can’t find anyone at your particular job to car pool with, some people might work next door or across the road. Here are a few basic tips you can use to help find people in your area to carpool with.
First, head to your apartment complex rental office and find out where you can post notices that people can see. Most apartment complexes use a cork board near the mailboxes or in a high traffic area where people will see it. Once you know where you can post safely, create a poster with perforated rip off tabs that give your phone number and where you work. Post the flyer and within hours you will likely hear from other folks looking to save on gas.
You can do the same thing at your job, or, if you work in an office building, try to find out if a similar cork board/notice system exists there and post the same flyer there. With a little ingenuity and creativity, you can start saving on gas sooner rather than later.
