Rockville, MD (PRWEB) January 19, 2008

Just two blocks from the new U.S. Patent and Trademark Office headquarters complex in Alexandria, VA, award-winning Trammell Crow Residential (TCR) is developing Alexan Carlyle, a 280-unit rental apartment community. Ground has been broken for the project, and the first units are scheduled to deliver in the third quarter of 2009.

Alexan Carlyle is capitalized at $ 94 million in a joint venture between TCR and Olayan America Corporation, with construction financing provided by PNC Bank. It will be located on a 2.8-acre parcel located at 800 John Carlyle Street in the prestigious Carlyle neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia.

TCR’s latest luxury apartment development in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area will have five stories and a variety of resort-style amenities including a pool, clubhouse, exercise room, billiards room, business center, and more. The single building, designed by Cubellis DCA, incorporates three distinct architectural styles. One portion of the building reflects the classic Federal architecture of nearby Old Town Alexandria; another has art-deco flair; and the third brings to mind airy loft dwellings created from urban warehouses.

Anchored by the two million square foot PTO complex, which was completed in 2005, the 77-acre Carlyle neighborhood is master-planned for a high-density, urban mixed-use center that includes office, retail, and residential development, all within walking distance of Metro. Easy access via Metro, Amtrak, I-495, and Reagan National Airport have made Carlyle a fast-growing live-work destination.

Established in 1977, Trammell Crow Residential is the nation’s premier multi-family real estate firm. Its primary business is value creation through the acquisition, development, construction, and management of multi-family rental housing. The company operates in over 50 of the nation’s strongest apartment markets, and bases activity on superior knowledge of local market needs and trends. The goals of the company are to develop, acquire and manage properties of the highest caliber that meet consumer demand, enhance the communities in which they reside, as well as to provide superior yields for investors, clients, and partners. Trammell Crow Residential has developed over 200,000 apartment units in most major markets across the United States.

Hunting for Apartments In Alexandria

Alexandria Apartments

If you are looking for apartments in Alexandria, be prepared for a case of sticker shock.   This beautiful, charming, and vibrant Northern Virginia city is a lot of things, but cheap is not one of them.  It is said that if you can find a studio for under $1000 a month, you’re doing well.  That being said, the city is a wonderful place for professionals and families to live when they want the amenities an urban center can offer with the peace and quiet of more rural settings.  Finding the right Alexandria apartment can help you fall in love with Alexandria .

Alexandria is one of CNN Money’s Best Places to Live in the US, so you should find no shortage of great neighborhoods.  To find the best Alexandria apartments for rent, consider trying free locators and apartment finding services.  These real estate specialists can help match you with an apartment that fits your needs, preferences, and budget.  This can help you save time and money in your search, especially if you have a lower budget with which to work.

Whether you are using a service or an online locator, it helps to narrow down your Alexandria apartment search by neighborhood.  Look at those that are most convenient in terms of commuting, schools, and amenities like shopping, dining, and cultural events.  Price, too, will differ depending on the neighborhood.  Here are some suggestions:  Clarendon, Rosslyn, Del Ray, Parker Gray, Old Town, Alexandria, West End, Carlyle, and Eisenhower Valley.

Housing rates have not fallen in this area of Virginia, but as one resident says, the move was well worth the slightly higher price.  Finding the right Alexandria apt listing may be your best move ever.

Common sense tips for easy apartment repairs

Saturday, March 06, 2010

One of the biggest attractions of living in an apartment is the fact that major repairs are handled by someone else. If something catastrophic should happen, it won’t cost you a dime to have it fixed by a professional, but that doesn’t mean that you get off Scott free from any household responsibilities. From changing light bulbs to air conditioning filters, the average apartment resident is still responsible for a whole host of minor repairs each and every week. Here are a few common sense tips if this is the first time living on your own.

If you are lucky enough to have an air conditioning system, you may be responsible for changing your filter once every month or once every few months, depending on the system you have. Before you run out and buy what can be an expensive filter, you need to check the type of filter that you need. Remove the vent grating with a screwdriver and pull out the filter that is currently in place. Along the spine or the top of the filter should be a style or type. Write it down and take that piece of paper with you to the hardware store where someone can show you the different types of filters they offer. When you are ready to replace it, simply slide the one you purchased in place just like the one that was there originally. Make sure you change the filter as frequently as needed as they can get clogged quite quickly, especially if you are a smoker.

How to secure Internet connections in your apartment

Saturday, March 06, 2010

Many people don’t realize it, but unauthorized use of a wireless internet connection is a major crime punishable by fines and even jail time. It is up to each and every one of us to secure our wireless Internet connection so that only you or you and your roommate can use it, otherwise, you could be held legally responsible for any activity that occurs on your line, including the downloading of illegal materials or criminal computer hacker activity. Let’s take a look at a few simple things you need to keep in mind.

First off, if you are only using desktop computers, and you don’t have any wireless connections to worry about, then you have nothing to worry about. The only people who need to worry about the security of their connection are those using a wireless router to connect to the Internet.

As tedious and boring as it might be, you need to read the instruction booklet that comes with your router. You don’t have to be an Internet or computer expert to secure your router, all you have to do is to pick an encryption level and set up a login and password that you will need to remember and give to your roommate, assuming you have one.

There are several different levels of encryption that most routers have. Some require 64 bit encryption but really good routers give you the opportunity to use 128bit encryption, which is much harder to break. You will be responsible for coming up with two passwords, one to log into your router and than the password for your encryption. They don’t have to be overly complicated, but you should choose a number pattern only you will be able to figure out. It is also a good idea to change your passwords every now and then just in case someone should happen to figure them out.

Avoiding identity theft when you share common apartment building dumpsters

Saturday, March 06, 2010

It seems that you can’t turn on the television lately with out hearing about another case of identity theft. People get their computers hacked, or they get personal information yanked out of garbage bags, and the damage can be huge. People have been known to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on lawyer’s fees in efforts to stop identity theft once it has started, so putting forth a little preventative care can is often a good idea. Let’s take a look at a few things you can do to prevent things from getting stolen when your apartment building uses a common dumpster.

First, buy a good shredder. Most trash can mounted shredders only cost $50-$70 and can work for years. They often have different settings that will shred papers in different sizes, shapes and ways so that they can’t be put back together. Remember, it is always a good idea to save your taxes for at least seven years, your credit card bills for three years and even your utilities for up to a year so new bills shouldn’t be going in the trash anyway.

If your apartments has a fireplace, you can always use these papers for kindling, just make sure that they get totally burnt each time, especially if your roommate might be using them. Burning these documents is really the only true way to completely get rid of them, but is only a good idea if you have a private fireplace in your own room.

If you want to completely bypass your apartment dumpster, you can make an effort to toss any important documentation away at work or at a third party location that you feel more secure using. Some companies will even let employees use their industrial strength shredding and take away systems for personal items, but don’t try using them without asking first.

Moving in Alexandria- Making The Big Decision

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

Moving is easily one of the biggest decisions that we make on a semi-regular basis. The sheer amount of stress that comes with a move is enough to make us want to put down permanent stakes where we are now and never consider moving again. In many cases a move may not be absolutely necessary. When it not, there are several things you need to consider before you give notice at your current apartment. Moving is often times more expensive than you imagine. Even if you don’t use professional movers, there are many costs involved in moving. Many utilities and cable companies charge you a fee to move your service from one address to another and there is also the bother of imposing on friends to help you move. You also need to consider the chance that your belongings will be damaged when you move. Even the best movers ding and break things and if you’re doing the move yourself, you can pretty much guarantee that there will be broken items. You should also consider that you may be trading in your current, average landlord for one that is much worse. Moving is never an easy decision to make and it should be evaluated closely so you don’t regret it once you leave. Making the move in Alexandria can be stressful, but also very exciting.
